As a part-time HR Compliance and Recruiting Specialist  for Understory, Inc., you will lead all employee growth-related efforts. Our world-class team is tackling unique and challenging problems that will change the way weather is measured and forecasted throughout the world. It is critical that we continue to build a strong team. 

As our HR Compliance and Recruiting Specialist, you will work with our leadership team to understand growth needs, source and recruit candidates, and become an expert on Understory company culture.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively connect with others. You're also comfortable with numbers and can draw insights from analytics to make our hiring process smarter, friendlier, and more efficient.

Your peers will be a multidisciplinary and diverse team building hardware, performing data analytics, developing cloud platforms, and releasing disruptive products. In this role, you will be a critical contributor to growing our fast-paced team.

Your main role responsibilities will include:

  • Designing, developing, and implementing an effective recruiting and staffing strategies
  • Screening resumes and evaluate candidates over a phone interview and refer to appropriate supervisors/managers
  • Developing long-term recruiting relationships with educational institutions and community agencies
  • Understanding business goals, products, objectives, and growth needs so that you can continuously improve and scale our recruiting operations and results
  • Gaining thorough knowledge of Understory company culture to ensure all hires align and have a positive impact on our culture
  • Tracking metrics for leadership team to be able to address attrition rates, recruiting pipeline, and outreach strategies
  • Maintaining and ensuring awareness of and compliance with employment regulations and laws
  • Using non-traditional methods to fill hiring pipeline: Research potential candidates, cold call candidates and companies, organize and execute networking events, identify industry experts and find unique methods to engage with them, create unique sourcing campaigns, etc.

You're exactly what we're looking for if you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field  
  • 1-2 years of direct HR experience, preferably in a recruiting, administration, or staffing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated consulting and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, interpersonal and problem resolution skills
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • General awareness of regulations and compliance expectations related to staffing & recruiting and other HR guidance
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and Google software

Compensation includes

  • Base salary commensurate with experience
