As a Recruiting Specialist for Understory, Inc., you will spearhead all employee growth-related efforts. Our world-class team is tackling unique and challenging problems that will change the way weather is measured and forecasted throughout the world. As our HR Recruiting Specialist, you will work with our leadership team to understand growth needs, source and recruit candidates, and become an expert on Understory company culture to ensure positive company growth.

You will have strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build relationships and effectively connect with others. You're also comfortable with numbers and can draw insights from analytics to make our hiring process smarter, friendlier, and more efficient.

Our work environment is casual, flexible, and fun while also being fast paced and aggressive in advancing technology. Your peers will be a multidisciplinary and diverse team building hardware, performing data analytics, developing cloud platforms, and releasing disruptive products. In this role, you will be a critical contributor to growing our fast-paced team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement effective recruiting and staffing strategies
  • Screen resumes and evaluate candidates over a phone interview and refer to appropriate managers
  • Develop long-term recruiting relationships with educational institutions and community agencies
  • Understand business goals, products, objectives, and growth needs so that you can continuously improve and scale our recruiting operations and results
  • Gain thorough knowledge of the Understory culture to ensure all hires align with company culture
  • Track metrics for leadership team to be able to address attrition rates, recruiting pipeline, and outreach strategies
  • Use non-traditional methods to fill hiring pipeline 
  • Maintain and ensure awareness of and compliance with employment regulations and laws

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field  
  • Two years of direct HR experience, preferably in a recruiting or staffing environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated consulting and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem-resolution skills
  • Self-starter and self-motivated
  • General awareness of regulations and compliance expectations related to staffing and recruiting

Currently, Understory is an early-stage start-up consisting of eleven awesome team members and is venture backed. Our team works hard, but also makes time for team and family fun!
